Woza Moya (Come Holy Spirit or Come Change) is an income-generation project of the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust (HACT). Mission statement: empowering and uplifting people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS to become economically self-sufficient through the production of crafts within their own environment. The project’s main aim is to teach craft skills to individuals affected/infected by HIV/AIDS through the production and sale of beaded items, ceramics, wirework, crochet work, fabric painting and sewing. HACT endevours to secure orders of craftwork in order to maintain an income for the members of the project. This scheme is for those affected by the epidemic, including the volunteer caregivers, people who are infected and unemployed and caregivers of children. Through craft alone, over 150 families are supported with a regular income. |
