Education workshops and talks are presented to various groups especially pupils and students, in an effort to curb the spread of infection and equip the participants with a sound knowledge of HIV/AIDS. Education is aimed at empowering the youth with knowledge in order for them to make informed decisions about their health. Workshops are also held for businesses, followed up with VCT (voluntary counselling and testing) programmes. The incidence of new infections in KZN, however, has not slowed down and the latest statistics show a 40.6% infection rate (according to the annual antenatal survey) compared to 36% in 2006.
In January 2006, we started a new programme to try and bring about behaviour change, focussing on 4 schools grades, 5-6 and grades 10-11. This programme been a success and we plan to expand it in 2008. Additionally the Centre offers 3 counselling courses per year.
I would like to sponsor Education and HIV Awareness
