Families affected by HIV/AIDS who are in desperate need are issued with a food parcel once a week until their crisis is over or until they are either earning an income or getting any government grants that they may qualify for. Families are assessed in their home situation before being enrolled onto the scheme and then also enrolled onto one the Centre's income generation projects.
Weekly food parcels are issued to families qualifying to be on our feeding scheme. Those on the scheme are families where a child heads the household, grannies who are left to take care of orphaned grandchildren, or in situations where the parent is now too ill to work. 30-50 families currently receive food parcels per week. Home visits are done before a family is placed on the scheme and follow up visits are done to ascertain whether the home situation has changed. In an effort to avoid dependency, families are enrolled onto one of our income generation projects and assistance is given for them to apply for any government assistance that they may be able to access - e.g. disability grant, foster grant or child support grant
I would like to sponsor the Feeding Scheme
