Home-based Care
Nursing care is provided to the community by Home-based Care Volunteers (HBCV's). These volunteers have been provided with training and a uniform and receive incentives in the form of food parcels. 50 Home-based carers are already trained and our registered nurses, out in the field, provide ongoing training.

The areas where we are operating at present are Molweni, Nyuswa, Nqeto, Inchanga and Embo as well as the surrounds of the Inner and Outer West local area. More specialised palliative as well as nursing care is done by 5 registered nurses who receive referrals from the HBCV's and this enables the nurses to see patients that have no access to a medical facility or indeed any care at all. The nurses provide basic medication and practical support is given. Those that have tested already, are screened further, managed and referred to an ARV site, where applicable. The Centre also operates a drop-in facility for anyone who wishes to either test or get advice/basic treatment and this service is getting busier daily. There is always a nurse on the premises to attend to any patients that arrive.
