Join the Othandweni Dinner for Friends Campaigns
New statistics show how the HIV/AIDS Epidemic has a paralysing effect on our beautiful country and the world we live in.
We can’t wait any longer and sit back till we hope that others start doing their jobs or keep their promises. If they can’t raise their voices to stop this dreadful disease it will be our challenge to do so.
If every single one of us can move a pebble, in the end we might be able to move a mighty mountain or even lift the curtain of ignorance!
You can make a difference!
First Step: Join the Othandweni Dinner for Friends Campaign, click here to find out more and download registration form.
1. How
It is easy! Join the Othandweni Dinner for Friends Campaign and host a dinner for your friends, family, colleagues, employees, customers, neighbours, old school peers or fellow club members. Ask your guests to make a contribution towards our new Respite Unit Othandweni 'A Place of Love' at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust. Inspire those who attend your dinner to do the same and help to spread HIV/AIDS awareness across the world.
2. The idea
Host a dinner amongst friends to share those beautiful anecdotes about our work and dreams; to connect with others and inspire them to host a dinner party themselves. Our aim is to extend HIV/ AIDS awareness throughout the world and to raise funds for the running costs of our new Respite Unit. We don’t want to lecture but rather we would like to reach out to as many people as possible with the HIV/AIDS message and stop ignorance about the disease through a fun and social event - having dinner with friends.
3. When
The campaign will be launched on World AIDS Day, 1 December 2008. We would like to host as many dinner parties as possible all over the World; Joburg, Paris, Hamburg, London, Kloof and unite people against this deadly disease, to show solidarity with people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, not only here in South Africa, but all around the world, as friends!
4. How long will it run
As long as it takes to get our message across! The idea is to motivate others to do the same and to inspire them to implement our idea into other functions, venues or places, such as Birthdays, company events, church services etc. The dinner dates do not have to be on World AIDS Day (01 Dec.) but we have chosen this day as a special anchor date. People are encouraged to plan dinners throughout the year. We are also planning to reflect on the dinners annually, to inspire and to unit with all those who have been involved through out the year.
